Cambodia Heritage and Adventure 10 Days
Travel Agent Combodia – Travel Agency Combodia – This 10 Day tour of Cambodia begins with an exploration of the ancient site of Angkor, and a bird-watching visit to nearby Tonle Sap Lake. The tour then travels on to the capital city, Phnom Penh, before a journey into the forest of the Cardamom Mountains and Koh Kong, for some biking and trekking. This 10-day tour brings you the highlights of this amazing country along with hidden treasures you never expected.
Day 1: Siem Reap arrival (G, DP)
Arriving at Siem Reap Airport, you’ll be met and driven to your hotel. In the afternoon, you will explore Angkor Wat, the largest and most impressive temple in the sprawling temple complex. As dusk comes, you will climb up to the summit of Phnom Bakheng Hill to enjoy a panorama of the whole complex glowing in the rays of the setting sun, if weather permits. Your overnight accommodation will be in Siem Reap.
Day 2: Siem Reap (B, L, G)
Today will be your full day to explore the temple complex. In the morning, you’ll visit Angkor Thom, starting with the Bayon, a bizarre structure which exhibits architecturally the transition from Hinduism (the foundations) to Buddhism (the superstructure). Your next visit will be to the Elephant and Leper King Terraces, followed by the Baphuon Temple, which has reopened after fifteen-year multi-million dollar restoration programme.
After lunch, you’ll also see Ta Prohm, approximately one kilometre east of Angkor Thom. Ta Prohm has been left in much the same condition in which it was found in 1860 by French naturalist Henri Mouhot, with huge trees growing out of the ruins. Your guide will then show you the Prasat Kravan (also known as the Cardamom Sanctuary), the Srah Srang Lake and landing terrace. Your overnight accommodation will be in Siem Reap.
Day 3: Siem Reap/Floating village & Bird Sanctuary Prek Toal (B, L, G)
After an early breakfast, you will be driven to the pier and embark on a wooden boat that crosses the vast Tonle Sap Lake and reaches the Sangker River leading up to Battambang. En route, you will stop at Prek Toal Bird Sanctuary to enjoy a guided tour with an experienced ornithologist, observing numerous birds in their natural habitat. Lunch will be served in a Prek Toal Village or there will be picnic lunch boxes. After boarding the boat back to Siem Reap in the late afternoon; you will cruise through the floating village in Chong Kneas before disembarking at the pier and being transferred to your hotel for overnight.
Note: The best time of year for viewing at Prek Toal Bird Sanctuary is from December to April.
Day 4: Siem Reap/Phnom Penh (B, L, G)
After breakfast, you’re picked up for your flight to Phnom Penh. When you arrive at Pochentong Airport in Phnom Penh, you’ll be met and driven to your hotel. After lunch, you’ll visit the National Museum and the Silver Pagoda, followed by a sunset cruise on the Chaktomuk River. Your overnight accommodation will be in Phnom Penh.
Day 5: Phnom Penh/Chi Phat (B, L, D, G)
This morning, our driver and guide will accompany you to Chi Phat located in Koh Kong. Arriving in Chi Phat at noon, you will enjoy lunch and be escorted to your homestay/guesthouse where you’ll have time to refresh yourself. In the afternoon, you will walk to nearby Chhay Chrey (about 2km), with a local guide for swimming and relaxing. A motorbike taxi will then transfer you to the Reforestation Project Nursery (about 3km away) where you will visit and learn about the reforestation project. Here, you can plant a tree and contribute to Conservation of the Cardamoms (optional). Later on, the motorbike taxi takes you to Bold Mountain (about 3km) for a beautiful view of sunset over the mountains. Your overnight accommodation will be in Chi Phat.
Chi Phat is within mainland South East Asia’s largest remaining tract of rainforest, the Southern Cardamom Mountains Protected Forest. Lying on the banks of the Phipot River, Chi Phat Commune comprises four small villages (Chi Phat, Chaom Sla, Kam Lort, and Teuk Laork) of about 550 families. Villagers work the highly fertile red soil of the area to grow rice, bananas and other seasonal crops. In the past, the people of Chi Phat experienced great suffering at the hands of the Khmer Rouge, and are still struggling today to support their families.
The Chi Phat Ecotourism Site was established in 2007 by an Environmental NGO called Wildlife Alliance. The project supports the protection of the area’s natural and cultural resources and creates work and income opportunities for villagers, as well as improving commune infrastructure and public facilities.
Day 6: Chi Phat/Jar site/O’Ampov Campsite (biking about 18km) (B, L, D, G)
Following breakfast, you will ride your mountain bikes to O’Ampov Campsite, visiting O’Spott (Dragon Fish River) Bat Cave and Waterfall, and the Teuk Vet (Curve River) Waterfall on the way.
Lunch will be served at O’Ampov Campsite. In the afternoon, you’ll trek to visit a post-Angkorian burial jar site (about 2.5km away). You will have dinner and spend the night at the campsite.

“We had very good guides”
“Mr Phuoc was outstanding. His command of global events and being able to put Vietnam into international context was impressive. Very personable, knowledgable, flexible and enthusiastic. A real ambassador for his country while also recognising the shortcomings and opportunities facing Vietnam. He didn’t just repeat history about sights, but he actively sought our own views and then worked out what would be of interest and why. If we were to revisit Vietnam, or recommend a top guide, it would be Mr Phuoc”
“Thanks to Avada Travel Team”
“I am very pleased with how much effort the booking agents put into helping me customize my trip. They were receptive to my input and understanding when I wanted to make changes. They also helped me put my itinerary together very quickly. I booked the trip less than two weeks before I travelled. Avada Travel was successfully able to get me a visa in time for my trip with the strict time constraint we were working under.”
“I will come back Vietnam”
“I wish I had time to see Sa Pa. I am already trying to figure out when I can go back to Vietnam just so I can visit Sa Pa. Even though Ha Long Bay is incredibly beautiful and it was one of my favorite places, I wish I had opted to visit Bai Tu Long or a nearby area instead. Ha Long Bay was so overcrowded and touristy, it was disappointed to be stuck in such a limited area of the Bay when it is so vast. I would recommend that travelers explore their options and stay in nearby areas Cat Ba, Bai Tu Long, Lan Ha, etc and spend more time.”
